Located at 3340 Broadway in the heart of New York City, Mofongo Del Valle is a vibrant gem for lovers of authentic Dominican cuisine. This unassuming spot delivers bold, flavorful dishes that capture the soul of Caribbean comfort food. From the moment you enter—or even when you order for takeout or delivery—you get a genuine taste of home-cooked warmth wrapped in a welcoming atmosphere.
The highlight here is, of course, the mofongo itself. Unlike many places where this classic mashed plantain dish can turn dry, Mofongo Del Valle strikes the perfect balance with moist, savory textures and robust, layered flavors. The rotisserie chicken is another star: tender, juicy, and expertly seasoned, it defies the common pitfalls of dryness and blandness often found in takeaway joints. Complemented by the crispy pernil skin, maduros, and creamy fried cheese, every bite feels thoughtfully crafted.
Rice and beans stand out as well, showcasing a rich, smoky flavor that shines even without gravy. Even the desserts, like the tres leches cake and flan, offer a sweet finish that’s authentic and satisfying, tempting you to save room despite generous portions. The addition of grilled shrimp and chicharrón further expands the menu’s appeal, revealing a diversity that keeps the experience lively and rewarding.
While the space itself leans modest and practical—perfect for grab-and-go rather than a leisurely sit-down—the warmth of the staff and the quality of the food create a lasting impression. Regulars praise the comfortable environment and the friendly team who make every visit feel like a community gathering. Whether you’re craving a comforting meal after a long day or exploring Caribbean flavors for the first time, Mofongo Del Valle offers a genuinely impressive culinary journey worth returning to again and again.
“ I feel better knowing about this spot! I found the food remarkable. This place provides an unpretentious, comfortable environment. The people working here are as nice to see as they are to talk to. This restaurant is impressive and I'll return regularly. ”
“ This place I was very surprised with. The rotisserie chicken was awesome not dry at all they do rotisserie right! This is the Spanish Boston Market. In Spanish food was amazing a little pricey up in some places but great. Something's definitely take home to the family I totally enjoy especially if you're not cooking. They know how to make things right and you definitely won't complain. At least I didn't. It's definitely a winner if you're passing through or from the neighborhood. If you enjoyed the review. You know what to do. Thank you in advance for your time. ”
“ I used Too Good To Go to try out this restaurant for $4.99 and the food is so delicious that I’d pay full price. The spaghetti wasn’t the best but the rice and beans were tasty and the meat wasn’t bad either. There was a good flavor in the gravy; however, the rice was flavorful enough not to need it. In addition, I got a portion that I was able to eat for two days. ”
“ I ordered delivery and it was FIRE. Avocado was fresh, mofongo wasn’t dry, the pernil was moist with crispy skin, and the flavor of everything (maduros and fried cheese included) was great. Didn’t have room for my tres leches dessert yet, but it looks like it’s gona hit. ”
“ Good food, great grill chicken and nice chicharrón. Inside, the space is small and unpleasant, which makes this place great for take outs. They also got flan and tres leche cake, and both desserts are good. ”
